Many of us have experienced the nightmare of opening our suitcase and realizing that we have made crucial mistakes in preparing for a trip. Recently, a friend of mine shared her experience of having prepared a completely wrong suitcase for her honeymoon, causing her numerous inconveniences once she arrived at her destination.
Here are some of the problems she faced:
Buying back things at crazy prices: she had to spend a fortune to buy back items she already had.
Suffering from unsuitable clothing: she suffered from cold and rain due to lack of suitable clothing.
Difficulty finding suitable stores: she did not find stores that had what she needed.
Unused clothes: did not use half of the clothes she had packed because she had not carefully planned what to bring.
If you have ever found yourself in a similar situation, don't worry. This is a common problem among travelers, but fortunately, it is a mistake that can be easily solved with a few tricks.
✨ Tips for packing effectively:
Inform yourself about the weather: check the weather forecast for your destination during the period of your trip.
Always use a checklist: a checklist will help you not to forget anything (here is my checklist ✅)
Evaluate the number of clothes: plan how many clothes to bring, taking into account the daily change of underwear and T-shirts and clothes that can be used more than once.
Choose basic clothes and accessories: reduce the number of clothes by bringing easy-to-match clothes and neutral colors.
Be prepared for the unexpected: include items such as a sweater, K-way, light jacket, and waterproof cover for your backpack.
Carry-on luggage essentials: make sure you have the essentials for the first two or three days in your carry-on luggage. Also include a general medicine kit.
To make this more concrete, I share with you an example from my last 18-day trip to India, which included a cold part in the Himalayas and a warm part in Rajasthan and Varanasi. This planning, designed to maximize the practicality and versatility of my travel wardrobe, allowed me to successfully navigate both climate challenges without a hitch.
