This trip was the second part of our honeymoon and we combined it with another 10 days in Botswana, 8 days in Mozambique and 4 days in Dubai. All organized by Mokoro Tours.
🗓 Days 1, 2, 3 and 4
🚙 Arrival at Victoria Falls by jeep from Botswana.
🇿🇼 After passport control at the border, we arrive at our beautiful lodge.
In these days we did the following activities in Victoria Falls:
📍 Sunset river cruise: Peaceful boat ride along the Zambezi River, admiring the scenery and wildlife
📍 Helicopter flight: Breathtaking aerial view of the falls and surroundings
📍 Cultural tour: discover the culture and history of the area by visiting local villages and markets (on your own)
📍 Artisan shopping: Explore local markets to purchase unique souvenirs and artworks (on your own)
📍 Dinner at Lookout Cafe: Taste local and international delicacies while admiring breathtaking views of Victoria Falls and the Zambezi River Gorge
📍 Devil's Pool: it is an extraordinary attraction located in Victoria Falls, in the Zambian part. It is a natural pool created by the water current that forms at the edge of a waterfall during the dry season. You can take a guided excursion to swim in this pool at the edge of the precipice, experiencing a unique emotion and a spectacular view of the waterfalls. It is an adventurous and exciting activity, but it requires attention and must be done with an expert guide.
Tips
💡 You can organize the different activities directly with the lodge or with the agencies located in the center of the town
💡 The price of assets they are quite expensive, unlike what one might think for the country in which they are located. They charge for everything in US dollars.
💡 The Devil's Pool it is a unique, adrenaline-filled and exciting activity but, after having done it, I can confirm that the risk exists despite doing everything together with guides. This activity consists of swimming against the current near the cliff to get to the pool, entering this pool, leaning on the rock that creates this pool while the guide holds your legs so that you don't fall and taking crazy photos while you are literally hanging on the cliff .
The activity costs approximately $180 per person.
💡 The ride in helicopter over Victoria Falls is absolutely worth it because from there you get a unique and incredible view. It lasts 15 minutes and costs about $200 per person.
💡 The cruises/dinners on the Zambezi River they are very pleasant and offer breathtaking sunsets. The price is around $80 but it depends on whether you include dinner or not.
🗓 Day 4
✈️ We cross the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia to go to Livingstone airport (Zambia) towards our next destination, Mozambique with a one-night stopover at Kruger in South Africa.
See you next time, Zimbabwe!
